Copyright (C) 2007 Nokia Corporation All rights reserved. 2007-07-17 The maemo 3.1 Bora installer scripts have been updated due to the recent changes in scratchbox. The updated debian devkit package no longer provides the generic 'debian' devkit used with maemo 3.x Bora releases. Instead it has separate devkits for different debian releases (currently sarge, edgy and lenny). This arrangement, if applied, breaks the current maemo 3.x installation relying on the generic debian devkit. For maemo 3.x development the new scratchbox packages provide a separate maemo3-debian devkit that is used with debian-sarge devkit. The new scratchbox installer installs the latest scratchbox components together with the new maemo specific packages and the updated sdk installation script sets up the targets so that they will work with the updated devkit setup. The future releases of the maemo SDK will use the updated scratchbox packages and devkits and using them already will smoothen the transition to using them. Currently there is no need to upgrade a working maemo 3.x installation to use the new scratchbox packages unless you want to give the maemo 4.0 Public Alpha release a try while still developing with maemo 3.x or you just want to be generally prepared. For all the new installations the new installers and the new setup are highly recommended. Changes in the scratchbox installer: - install the updated debian devkit - install the updated doctools devkit - install the updated cputransp devkit - install the new maemo3-debian devkit Changes in the sdk installer: - use the combination of the new maemo3-debian and debian-sarge devkits instead of the generic debian devkit - use the updated doctools devkit - use the updated cputransp devkit - use the new maemo3-tools devkit - use $http_proxy from the host environment by default - add proxy configuration to apt.conf - try to handle a broken network under scratchbox better Happy Hacking!
